The Haltech Nexus R5 is the flagship VCU (Vehicle Control Unit) from Haltech — integrating the functionality of a power distribution module, advanced engine management system, dual-channel wideband controller, and powerful data logger into one cutting-edge device. Paired with a Universal V8 Terminated Harness, this system is designed for seamless integration with a wide variety of GM, Ford, and Chrysler V8 engines.
Nexus R5 VCU Key Features
- Power Outputs:
- 4 x 25A (continuous) push-pull PWM outputs (5 kHz) for injectors, coils, transbrake, fans, fuel pumps
- 12 x 8A high-side outputs (200 Hz low-speed PWM) for sensors, nitrous solenoids, etc.
- 18 x Peak/Hold injector drivers – usable as low-side outputs
- 12 x Low-current ignition outputs – also usable as low-side drivers
- 8 x Low-side PWM outputs (DPOs)
- 4 x Push-pull / H-bridge 8A PWM outputs — ideal for drive-by-wire throttle control
- Inputs & Sensors:
- 23 x 0–5V analog inputs with redundancy and optional 5V pullup
- Trigger and home inputs with adjustable thresholds, differential support, and glitch filters
- 10 x Synchronous pulsed inputs — suitable for cam sensors, frequency sensors, 0–5V analog inputs
- Integrated Wideband: 2 onboard wideband controllers supporting NTK and LSU4.9 sensors
- CAN Integration: 3 x CAN bus ports with configurable termination
Universal V8 Terminated Harness
The included Terminated Engine Harness is engineered to plug directly into the Nexus R5 and supports the majority of small and big block V8 engines from GM, Ford, and Chrysler. It offers a clean and organized wiring solution, significantly reducing installation time and error.
