How Does It Work?

During the process of venting crankcase pressure back through your intake track, large amounts of oil vapors can accumulate in your intake tube, intake manifold runners, and even dilute your fuel—lowering its octane level. This is especially problematic in forced induction engines like the supercharged Mustang GT500, where crankcase pressures are higher.

To combat this issue, the J&L Oil Separator 3.0 features a finely engineered system that traps oil vapors before they reach your intake. The separator is milled from solid billet aluminum, ensuring a rock-solid construction. Its knurled tank base allows for easy removal and draining of collected oil, while an O-ring seal prevents leaks.

Advanced Filtration System

The J&L Oil Separator 3.0 utilizes a fine mesh stainless steel filter to trap fine oil vapors, allowing them to condense and fall into the reservoir instead of entering the intake system. By the time the oil passes through the filter, it becomes too heavy to continue through the airflow and is collected in the tank.

The tank holds 3 oz of fluid—while this may not sound like much, most vehicles do not accumulate significant oil in their PCV system. It is recommended to check the separator after 1000 miles of driving. Many applications allow for 2500-3500 miles before requiring drainage, but results may vary depending on driving conditions and engine performance.
