How Does It Work?

During the process of venting crankcase pressure back through your intake track, large amounts of oil vapors can accumulate in your intake tube, manifold runners, and even mix with fuel, lowering its octane level. This issue is present in all engines and is exacerbated in forced induction vehicles (supercharged or turbocharged) due to increased crankcase pressure.

To combat this, J&L has developed a highly effective oil separator. Crafted from solid billet aluminum, this unit is built to last. It features a knurled tank base for easy removal and draining, along with an O-ring seal to prevent leaks.

Efficient Oil Filtration

The separator uses a fine mesh stainless steel filter to trap oil vapors and release them once they accumulate enough weight to fall. By the time the oil reaches the filter, it is too heavy to pass into the intake system.

Capacity & Maintenance

The J&L Oil Separator 3.0 has a 3-ounce capacity. While this may not seem like much, most vehicles should not accumulate excessive oil in the PCV system. It is recommended to check the separator after 1,000 miles of driving. Many vehicles can go between 2,500-3,500 miles before requiring a drain, but results may vary.
