How Does It Work?

During the process of venting crankcase pressure back through your intake track, large amounts of oil, in the form of vapors, can accumulate in your intake tube, intake manifold runners, and even dilute your gas—lowering its octane level. This occurs in all engines but is significantly worse in forced induction vehicles, such as supercharged and turbocharged models, due to increased crankcase pressures.

To combat this, J&L has developed a highly effective oil separator, milled from solid billet aluminum for superior durability. The unit features a knurled tank base for easy removal and draining of spent oil, along with an O-ring seal to prevent leaks.

Advanced Filtration System

The J&L Oil Separator 3.0 utilizes a fine mesh stainless steel filter that traps fine oil vapors and releases them once they are heavy enough to fall. By the time the oil gets through the filter, it is too dense to be passed into the intake, effectively preventing buildup and maintaining peak engine efficiency.

Capacity & Maintenance

The tank holds up to 3 ounces of oil. While this may not sound like much, a properly functioning PCV system should not collect excessive amounts of oil. It is recommended to check the oil separator after approximately 1,000 miles of driving. Most applications can go 2,500-3,500 miles before requiring drainage, but every vehicle varies.
