Mechman 400 AMP Billet Alternator – GM 2 Pin w/ RVC Bypass - Purple
The Mechman 400 AMP Billet Alternator is a top-tier charging solution for high-demand GM truck and LS-based applications using the 2-pin RVC system. Newly redesigned as part of the Elite Series, this large-case alternator delivers the highest possible amperage and durability, using advanced 6-phase technology, massive twin rectifier assemblies, and 12 heavy-duty diodes to provide rock-solid output. It maintains 200+ amps at engine idle, making it ideal for extreme audio, racing, and accessory-loaded builds.
Key Features
- Elite Series high-output 400 AMP billet alternator
- Newly redesigned (2020) large-case design for maximum durability
- Highly efficient 6-phase internal architecture
- Massive twin rectifier assemblies with 12 diodes
- Maintains 200+ amps at engine idle speeds
- Equipped with a 1.75" diameter alternator pulley
- Billet construction for strength, cooling, and premium appearance
Pulley & Belt Requirements
This unit is supplied with a smaller 1.75" alternator pulley and:
- Requires a slightly shorter drive belt for proper tension
- If the proper shorter belt is not used, it can result in low or no output and increased alternator workload
- Not recommended for sustained use above 5,000 RPM engine speed
- See instructions section for recommended belt sizes and wiring guidance
RVC Bypass & Voltage Control
These alternators use a robust 4-pin style regulator instead of the OE 2-pin ECU-controlled unit, fully bypassing the factory RVC charging strategy on 2005+ GM truck applications:
- Includes single-wire turn-on P101 harness – connect to a verified 12V switched source
- Includes P103 module that plugs into the vehicle’s original 2-pin alternator harness
- No “check battery” light and no computer-controlled voltage swings
- Delivers the voltage you want, when you want it, for consistent performance
Ideal For
- 2005+ GM trucks and SUVs using 2-pin RVC systems
- High-wattage audio systems, lighting, winches, pumps, and fans
- Racing and performance builds needing extreme amperage
- Engine swaps requiring simplified, stable voltage control
