Precision Industries Vigilante Lock-Up Converter, Single Disc

PRECISION INDUSTRIES Precision Industries
SKU #PRI-Vigilante-1D
Precision Industries designed the first 9.5 & 10.5-inch lock-up torque converter in 1992. Precision Industries starts the production of these torque converters with a 98 pound piece of billet steel that we machine in our CNC equipment ending up with a one piece front cover weighing 12 pounds depending on what converter series we are building. The billet front cover is one of many reasons that enable Precision Industries to produce a superior product over many of our competitors that try to imitate and copy our product designs We prefer machining our billet front covers over purchasing forged steel covers due to balancing, excessive weight and density problems that can arise from forgings. Benefits of our cover include increased clutch surface area by as much as 5 times over OEM specifications. The increase in clutch surface area along with the unique clutch lining we use ensures that no matter what the application you can retain the lock-up feature for efficiency without durability issues. Precision Industries will custom-build your torque converter to fit your application!  Stall speed will vary depending on what modifications are done, and this is why we ask you to select the closest modification level when ordering your torque converter.  You need to select your stall speed depending on what modifications are going to be done to your car.  For instance, if you are looking for a 4,000 RPM stall speed with aftermarket cylinder heads & camshaft in place, the converter needs to be built for the application and NOT for a car with factory cylinder heads & camshaft.  We keep the most popular stall speeds in stock, and if we do not have one in stock Precision Industries usually does!  If they have to custom-build your torque converter, it normally will not take more than three business days!  All of the standard torque converters are single-disc units, but multi-disc units are available as an upgrade.  The multi-disc units are an excellent idea if you plan on locking your torque converter at WOT, if you are running a heavier vehicle such as a Trailblazer SS or Chevy/GMC pickup, and/or if you plan on doing any towing with your new torque converter in place.  Feel free to give us a call, and we will be glad to discuss your options and make a recommendation based on your application and needs!
