TSP 3-Bolt Camshaft Package for Gen 5 5.3L L83 Engines

Get everything you need for your camshaft upgrade on your 2014+ Gen 5 5.3L L83 engine with this Texas Speed & Performance 3-bolt camshaft kit. This package is designed for customers converting away from the factory VVT system and upgrading to a traditional 3-bolt camshaft setup.

By eliminating VVT and DOD/AFM, this setup allows for more aggressive camshaft profiles that deliver improved power and overall performance compared to factory-equipped systems.

  • Your choice of TSP Gen 5 L83 3-bolt camshaft
  • Precision Race Components dual valve spring kit with titanium retainers
  • Set of 3/8" hardened chromoly pushrods

Required Components

Important: All Gen 5 L83 engines are equipped with VVT and DOD/AFM from the factory. A 3-bolt camshaft requires a VVT delete conversion, and all camshaft upgrades require removal of the DOD/AFM system.

Additional Recommendations

  • Upgrade factory rocker arms with a TSP trunnion upgrade kit
  • +32% fuel lobe requires a lash cap (do not use with LT4 fuel pump)
  • Pushrod length should always be verified during installation
  • Custom tuning is required after installation

Performance & Testing

All TSP Gen 5 L83 camshafts are designed and tested to improve power across the RPM range while maintaining drivability. Removing DOD/AFM lifters allows for more aggressive lobe profiles, resulting in stronger midrange and top-end performance.

Camshaft selection will vary based on your setup, including converter, gearing, and intended vehicle use.
