Camshaft Selection Guide

  • 4.8L/5.3L NSR RV: Best for low-end torque, towing, off-road use, daily driving, and customers wanting a smooth idle.
  • 4.8L/5.3L NSR CHOPacabra: Best for customers wanting stronger performance and an aggressive, choppy idle from a smaller-displacement LS truck engine.
  • 6.0L NSR RV: Best for cathedral-port 6.0L engines where low-end torque, midrange power, towing performance, and drivability are the priorities.
  • 6.0L NSR CHOPacabra: Best for cathedral-port 6.0L engines where maximum chop and stronger performance are the main goals.

Optional Trunnion Upgrade

An optional rocker arm trunnion upgrade kit is available when configuring the package. This upgrade strengthens the factory rocker arms and is recommended for customers who want to improve the durability of the factory rocker system while the valvetrain is apart.

No Valve Spring Upgrade Required

All available NSR camshafts are designed to operate with compatible factory GM valve springs, eliminating the need for a valve spring upgrade in a properly maintained engine. This reduces installation time and makes the package an economical option for mild truck builds and daily-driven applications.

The existing valve springs must still be inspected for wear, damage, proper installed height, and adequate spring pressure before reuse. Old, weak, damaged, or high-mileage springs should be replaced before the engine is operated with the new camshaft.

Important Notes

  • Select the camshaft designed for your engine displacement and intended use.
  • The 6.0L camshaft options are intended for compatible cathedral-port 6.0L LS applications.
  • These camshafts are designed for use with compatible factory GM valve springs.
  • Factory valve springs must be inspected and verified to be in good operating condition before reuse.
  • The rocker arm trunnion upgrade kit is optional and is not included unless selected.
  • Camshaft tuning is required and will vary by vehicle and engine combination.
  • Piston-to-valve clearance and all other critical valvetrain clearances should be checked before final assembly.
  • Horsepower gains will vary based on engine combination, supporting modifications, exhaust, intake, tuning, and test conditions.
  • Professional installation and tuning are recommended.
