Texas Speed & Performance LSx Low Lash Solid Roller Cam Kit

The Texas Speed & Performance LSx Low Lash Solid Roller Cam Kit is designed for serious high-performance LS engine combinations that require the increased valvetrain capability of a solid roller camshaft. These are aggressive camshafts intended for properly prepared engines and should not be compared directly to a typical hydraulic roller cam package.

Each kit includes your choice of TSP Low Lash Solid Roller Camshaft, a matched high-performance valve spring package, a small valve spring shim pack, and a pushrod length checker. Solid roller lifters and TSP adjustable shaft-mount rocker systems are also available as options, allowing the package to be configured around your cylinder heads and existing valvetrain components.

Kit Includes

  • Your Choice of TSP LSx Low Lash Solid Roller Camshaft
  • Matched High-Performance Valve Spring Kit
  • Valve Spring Shim Pack
  • Pushrod Length Checker

Camshaft Options

  • Stage 1 – 229/243, .645"/.645", 112+4
The most street-friendly camshaft in the Low Lash Solid Roller lineup. Even the Stage 1 is a large, aggressive camshaft and is best suited for serious performance combinations. This is the primary cam we recommend for customers wanting a street-driven solid roller LS combination.
  • Stage 2 – 237/250, .645"/.645", 112+3
A significant step up from the Stage 1 and intended for more aggressive engine combinations. Stage 2 can be used in some street applications, but piston-to-valve clearance becomes especially critical at this level and must be physically verified during assembly.
  • Stage 3 – 243/255, .645"/.645", 111+3
Intended primarily for larger-displacement and stroker LS combinations where additional cubic inches, cylinder head flow, compression, and supporting components can take advantage of the increased duration.
  • Stage 4 – 250/264, .683"/.670", 112+2
The largest camshaft in the lineup and intended for serious stroker and maximum-effort combinations. This cam requires a properly prepared engine and valvetrain with all critical clearances verified before operation.

Available Solid Roller Lifter Option

Compatible solid roller lifters are available as an optional addition to the kit. Customers who already have a suitable solid roller lifter setup may retain their existing components, provided they are compatible with the selected camshaft and engine combination.

Available TSP Adjustable Shaft-Mount Rocker Options

  • TSP Adjustable Shaft-Mount Rockers – Cathedral Port
For compatible LS cathedral-port cylinder head applications.
  • TSP Adjustable Shaft-Mount Rockers – LS3
For compatible LS3-style rectangular-port cylinder head applications.
  • TSP Adjustable Shaft-Mount Rockers – PRC 260 LS3
Designed for compatible PRC 260 LS3 cylinder head applications.

A compatible adjustable rocker arm system is required to properly establish valve lash with these solid roller camshafts. If your engine does not already have a suitable adjustable rocker system, one must be purchased. TSP adjustable shaft-mount rocker systems can be selected with the kit for Cathedral Port, LS3, and PRC 260 LS3 cylinder head applications.

Pushrod Requirements

Pushrods are not included with this kit. Because solid roller valvetrain geometry and required pushrod length can vary significantly between engine combinations, each kit includes a pushrod length checker.

The engine must be assembled and the correct pushrod length physically measured before ordering pushrods. Pushrod diameter must also be verified for the cylinder head being used. Some cylinder heads have limited pushrod clearance and may only accommodate a 5/16" pushrod. This is especially common with many aftermarket cathedral-port cylinder heads. Always confirm both pushrod length and pushrod-to-head clearance before final assembly.

Valve Spring Setup & Shimming

Correct valve spring installed height is critical in a solid roller valvetrain. Depending on the cylinder heads, valves, retainers, locks, and other components being used, the valve springs will likely require shimming to achieve the proper installed height.

The target spring setup for this package is approximately .055"–.065" from coil bind at maximum valve lift. Installed height must be measured and adjusted as necessary to achieve the proper coil bind clearance for the selected camshaft and valvetrain combination.

A small valve spring shim pack is included with the kit to assist with setup. However, cylinder head configurations vary, and additional valve spring shims may be required and must be purchased separately if the supplied shims are not sufficient to achieve the required installed height and coil bind clearance.

Important Notes

  • These are aggressive solid roller camshafts intended for properly prepared performance engines.
  • Piston-to-valve clearance must always be physically checked during assembly.
  • Stage 2 and larger camshafts require particular attention to piston-to-valve clearance due to their increased duration and more aggressive valve events.
  • Stage 3 and Stage 4 camshafts are primarily intended for larger-displacement and stroker engine combinations.
  • An adjustable rocker arm system is required to properly establish valve lash.
  • If the engine does not already have compatible adjustable rockers, a rocker arm system must be purchased.
  • TSP adjustable shaft-mount rocker options are available for Cathedral Port, LS3, and PRC 260 LS3 cylinder head applications.
  • Verify rocker arm compatibility with your exact cylinder head before ordering.
  • Pushrods are not included. Pushrod length must be measured during assembly using the included pushrod length checker.
  • Pushrod diameter and pushrod-to-head clearance must also be verified. Some cylinder heads, particularly many aftermarket cathedral-port heads, may only clear a 5/16" pushrod.
  • Valve spring installed height must be measured and verified during assembly.
  • Target valve spring setup is approximately .055"–.065" from coil bind at maximum valve lift.
  • Valve spring shimming will likely be required. A small shim pack is included, but additional shims may be necessary depending on the cylinder heads and valvetrain combination.
  • Always verify valve spring installed height, open and closed spring pressure, coil bind clearance, retainer-to-seal clearance, rocker arm geometry, piston-to-valve clearance, pushrod clearance, and all other critical valvetrain clearances before final assembly.
  • Proper valve lash must be set and periodically checked as part of normal solid roller valvetrain maintenance.
  • Professional installation and proper valvetrain setup are strongly recommended.
